The James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department has a proud history of serving our community and is gifted with some of the finest fire service professionals in Virginia. The men and women of the JCBVFD are highly trained, extremely dedicated, and steadfastly focused on their core mission of service to our community. Every member of our department is committed to providing the highest level of service possible.

Since 1948, your volunteer firefighters have bravely and successfully confronted the hazards of our growing community and continue to mitigate complex life-safety problems through risk management, strategic planning, methodical deployment, aggressive, but disciplined fire attack and rescue philosophy. We provide a broad spectrum of both emergency and non-emergency services to the citizens and visitors of our community.

The hard-working professionals of the JCBVFD are dedicated first and foremost to protecting the quality of life for the citizens and visitors of our community through multi-faceted emergency response and the protection of life, property, and the environment.

I am proud to lead such a fine organization. I am impressed on a daily basis with the professionalism, dedication, integrity, and resourcefulness of the men and women of our Department and their commitment to the citizens, visitors, and businesses of our community.

As the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department moves into our 75th year of volunteer service, we will continue to seek ways to rethink how we provide our service in an effort to be more efficient, more adaptable, and more responsive to the needs of our community.
