Midday on August 22nd was a typical hot and humid summer afternoon, so my wife and I stopped by SNO-TO-GO at 2229 Richmond Rd. for two mango-flavored stuffed snowballs. Sounds delicious, doesn't it? To my surprise, the clerk told me the two stuffed snowballs were free. I asked why, and she said it was because I was a member of the James City-Bruton VFD. It was then that I remembered that I was wearing a JCBVFD t-shirt. Stunned, I said "thank you very much", and gave her a couple of dollars for a tip. I couldn't believe it! How incredibly generous for the SNO-TO-GO ownership to express their support for the local volunteer fire/rescue departments in this way. As I was waiting for my refreshing dessert to be served, I noticed a hand-printed sign on the window that read, "AUGUST TIPS GO TO JAMES CITY-BRUTON VFD AND JAMES CITY COUNTY RESCUE." Not only had the owners been generous, but the employees also sacrificed their much-needed tips in order to support their local volunteers. WOW, what a wonderful experience! Thank you, SNO-TO-GO ownership and employees, for your generous support of your volunteer fire/rescue departments! We are grateful!!
