Firefighter 1 is the first required course for new firefighters. An important component of that training is experiencing fire in a "controlled" setting. In these photos, our members are introduced into a burning room and experiencing the heat and blackout visual conditions. They learn how to climb ladders with a charged handline and make entry from the ladder into a window. They also learn how to conserve the air that is in their self-contained breathing apparatus in order to continue their fire attack for longer periods of time. All of this is done with their personal safety as THE priority.
